Joe Braun from
Lake City, MN. Here is a tremendous buck...Big 6x6 with gross score
around 185" / 210 lbs.
Joe shot a doe in the morning then we moved him to a waterhole for the afternoon as the temps were supposed to climb into the 70’s later in the day. About 1-1/2 hours before dark he rattled the bones then later did a few doe bleats and grunt calls.
Just after he did another set of bleats and grunts this giant walked into the waterhole looking for the doe. Joe said he was literally shaking so bad he had to brace his shooting arm against the tree to shoot, looks like it worked! Luckily he was only 5 yards away.
A neat twist to this bucks story: This buck was almost famous...in 2003 Mitch Hagen was hunting with us and filming a hunt for PrimeTime Bucks 8. Mitch had this bruiser come in but as luck would have it, the arrow hit him in the shoulder...and bruisers like these don't go down easy. So he lived to grow another year.
Mitch called his good friend Joe Braun and told him he had to book a hunt with Buffalo County Outfitters for 2004...so a year later and here is Joe...with a great buck...and official bragging rights over Mitch!
FYI: The buck had about 35" of additional horn growth from 2003 to 2004!
Great buck turned into a tremendous buck! Congrats to a great guy to have in camp! |

Dave Aho,
September 17, 2004.
8 point. Gross 140's
Dave and his group hunt the 1st week of season with us every year. He shot this dandy in a pinch pt. On the way to an alfalfa field. It was raining when he shot him at a severe quartered away angle so we left him until morning and he only went about 80-yards. Congratulations on a great buck! |

Steve Snow,
October 26th, 2004.
9 point, 138 Gross.
Steve watched this buck come into a farm pond on the edge of the timber then rattled and grunted him right to the tree for a 25 yard shot. This hunt can be seen on Primetime Bucks 9.
Congratulations to Steve and Mitch Hagen on an awesome hunt!!

Nino Camberari.
10 point, 200 lbs. 135 Gross.
Nino shot this buck just off a bedding area at 9:00 a.m. he had rattled 10 minutes earlier and this buck came in looking. Nino made me a believer in Slick Trick Broadheads these heads fly like darts and put nasty holes in deer. Check them out and give them a try you won’t be disappointed. www.SlickTrick.net

Paul Somero, September 16, 2004. 210 lbs, 150” Gross.
Paul got into his tree at 3:00 p.m. positioned on a fence line between two cornfields with heavy timber above on the side-hill.
Early season hunting is WARM...Paul took off his shirt to cool down it was almost 80 degrees that day.
This buck walked out at 20 yards between the fence line and cornfield at 3:20 p.m. on his way down to one of our Wildlife Buffet food plots. So yea, Paul was still sitting in his stand with NO SHIRT...so much for camouflage!!

Travis Bucholtz from
Wisconsin.
November 24th, 2004.
12 point, Gross 140’s.
Travis shot this buck in a funnel off from two major bedding areas, it’s actually in a pasture between the bedding areas. He climbed in the tree at 1:30 pm, waited 20 minutes, rattled and the buck charged in, he shot him, and he climbed back out before 2:00 pm. That’s what I call short and sweet. |

Congrats to neighbor for getting the famous
'Heart Attack Buck": Deric Lindstrom from
Wisconsin.
200 lbs. Gross 5 1/2 years old,
170” 24” Inside.
Many local hunters have pursued him for a last few years...land owner was finally lucky to connect...one of our hunters helped recover...what a buck!
When this buck was 3 1/2 he was nick-named the "Heart Attack Buck" because he was a wide buck that put the 'fever' in every hunter lucky enough to get close. Over the last 3 years several of my hunters have had a crack at this deer but the fever always managed to win out. Deric shot him in the morning 180 yards from our line and we recovered him on our lease 2 days later.
Congrats to a great guy and family. This buck was very visible and we’re going to miss seeing him in his bachelor group this summer, the good thing is there’s lots of other giants to take his place!

Brian Garrow from
Grand Blanc, MI.
9 point, 200 lbs. 128 Gross.
First morning of hunt...first hour!
Brian was on a connecting ridge between a bean field and bedding area. Brian let this buck walk the previous evening because he had to shoot his doe first.
Brian got his doe out of the way and was ready for the next morning. First light comes and what does he see, his buck coming through again! This time Brian was ready and legal (2004 was earn-a-buck in WI)....
Brian made a great shot on him! |

Bill Heavey from
Arlington, VA. Symmetrical 10 point, 210 lbs.
Gross 139.
Bill shot this buck on a waterhole at 7:30 AM he had a couple smaller bucks come into his calling before this one showed up. Bill also had a rough time with his doe but put the smackdown on this dandy at 35 yards. Maybe if the does would have been that far away instead of 10-15 yards he could of hit them easier!! Congrats!
Bill writes for Field & Stream magazine and has an article on his hunt in the Sept. 2005 issue of
Field and Stream.

Dan Sternbergh from

Those who know Dan's good luck can enjoy his great buck...he missed a 'booner' 12 point...
nice try Dan! But he was able to get off the shot on this
nice 8 point. Seems buck fever is selective!

Jake Miller from
Wisconsin.
November 7, 2004 1:30 p.m.
Gross 130’s,
8 point,
195 lbs.
Jake sat all morning on a decoy set-up but no luck. After lunch we checked wind direction and decided to try a water hole. Daytime movement is always good around watering holes when the bucks are running and checking does. He shot this buck at 1:30 p.m. coming in to get a drink. Jake had a hard time getting his doe out of the way but he put the Hammer on this buck! Congratulations!

Tim Rundle from Wisconsin. 230 lbs, 5-1/2 years old, 155 Gross, 10 point.
Tim was on a thick ridge between 3 different bedding areas. He rattled the bones together and this was the fifth buck to the tree. He shot him at 12 yards with a
Slick Trick Broadhead (becoming a favorite of mine) and he barely made it 40 yards.
The shot went through the shoulder blade and broke the far leg on the way out...penetrating right to the nock. Looked like you shot a 10 gauge slug through him, unbelievable blood trail.

Jay Bauer from
Wisconsin.
Opening morning of gun season. 9 point, nice mass.
The "blew my ACL buck"...while dragging this buck out, Dan (known as 'I missed a big one') blew his knee out! I offered to hold his head under water to help with the pain...but he said he would be ok! Great job Jay and great shot! Did you notice that buck rub on the telephone pole! |

Greg Miller from
Wisconsin.
November 21st, 2004.
8 point 5x3, 210 lbs.
Gross 130.
Greg shot this buck the 2nd day of our rifle season. Greg and his son, Jake, both sat on a fence line about 500 yards apart. This spot is a great travel corridor between two wooded bluffs...and a huge riverbottom...perfect escape route when gun season is under way.
It's always surprising how bucks use the open country and fencelines to escape hunting pressure. This was the fourth shooter Greg saw, he watched him cross a road into a standing corn field then emerge into the open fields where Greg anchored him at 150 yards. The buck was 5x3 typical with a giant 200+ dressed weight. Huge bodied deer!! |

120 Gross. Deer and Deer Hunting Magazine
Sweepstakes Winner!!!! |

 |
Marion Whitlow.
8 pt. 180 lbs.
120 Gross. Marion shot this buck in the evening coming to a small patch of standing corn on the 2nd day of rifle season. The 1st shot was about 300 yards and the 2nd at 350, let me tell you she didn’t need the second but she put them both in the X ring.
You do not want this little old lady shooting at you and you better not complain in camp because she’ll send you back to your bunk and tell you not to come out till you change your attitude. Marion's philosophy: if you're not having fun deer hunting then go back home to your wife and make her miserable, not us!!

 |
Bob Frank.
9 point. 125-130 Gross. 182 lbs.
First time hunter Bob shot this buck the 2nd day of rifle season. Bob was sitting in a stand in the middle of a thick logged over area, this buck came through with a doe about 9:00 am. Bob had shot his earn-a-buck doe about 2 hours earlier. Congrats to a great guy to have in camp.

Kyle Zenk.
November 7, 2004.
8 point. 160 Gross.
153-5/8 net. 195 lbs.
This buck was shot by my neighbors' 14 years old nephew. This buck followed a doe past him in the morning on a thick ridge, stopped him at 10 yards and the rest is history. Congratulations to Kyle. The deer in Kyle’s hunting area are in deep trouble for a lot of years to come!
Later in gun season, he actually missed a bigger 9 point with his rifle during the gun season. |

|
Jake Miller. Shot 11/22/04.
9 points 21” spread Gross 130’s.
He shot this buck on a drive, we were pushing a big section of nasty riverbottom when this buck slipped out thinking he was free and clear. Jake made a great 200+ yard shot to anchor this great buck! Jake saw another huge buck on the drive, he said he would trade 2 of this buck to get a shot at that one!! Congrats and nice shooting!! There is always next year... |

Hank Weisenbeck from
Wisconsin.
190 lbs. 8 point. 150 inch Gross.
Hank shot this buck on the last drive we did for the season. The buck came through on the push and stopped at 20 yards. Somehow Hank missed him with his 300 short Mag but luckily the buck only took one jump and stopped again, he didn’t miss the second shot at 25 yards. Hank had another 170-180 class buck go by after he shot his but he said he’s not complaining. There's always next season!!! |
